MEA Establishes Control Room for Indians in West Asia Amid Rising Tensions
MEA Sets Up Control Room for Indians in West Asia Crisis

India Launches Emergency Control Room for Citizens in West Asia

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has established a dedicated control room to provide critical assistance to Indian nationals affected by the intensifying crisis in West Asia and the Gulf region. This proactive measure comes as security concerns mount across the area due to escalating regional tensions and military conflicts.

Government's Priority: Safety of Indian Citizens

In an official statement released on Wednesday, the MEA emphasized that the safety and well-being of Indian citizens remain the government's "utmost priority." The ministry highlighted that approximately one crore (ten million) Indian nationals currently reside in West Asia, making this initiative particularly significant.

The newly established control room will operate from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM daily, offering a crucial communication channel for those requiring assistance. Citizens can contact the facility through multiple channels:

Coordinated Response to Regional Unrest

The MEA confirmed that the Indian government is maintaining continuous monitoring of the evolving situation and will implement appropriate decisions aligned with national interests. New Delhi remains in active communication with regional governments and key international partners to coordinate response efforts.

Simultaneously, the Consulate General of India in Jeddah has intensified its support for Indian nationals facing travel disruptions. Consul General Fahad Ahmed Khan Suri, accompanied by senior officials, personally visited King Abdulaziz International Airport to oversee arrangements for Indian passengers departing on special flights to various destinations across India.

Special Flights Facilitate Return Amid Conflict

Indian carriers have organized non-scheduled special flights to help mitigate the impact of recent travel disruptions and facilitate the return of affected passengers. These measures come against the backdrop of significant regional developments that have heightened security concerns.

The current crisis stems from coordinated military strikes by the United States and Israel against Iran on February 28, which resulted in the death of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and other senior Iranian figures. This event represents one of the most substantial escalations in the region in recent decades.

In subsequent days, Iran has executed a series of retaliatory attacks primarily targeting Israel and US military installations across multiple Gulf countries. These strikes have affected nations including the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Kuwait, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia, further complicating the regional security landscape.

The establishment of the MEA control room demonstrates India's commitment to protecting its citizens abroad during international crises, providing a structured mechanism for assistance as tensions continue to unfold across West Asia and the Gulf region.
