Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended warm birthday wishes to President Droupadi Murmu on Saturday, praising her courage, humility and dedication to public service. In a special gesture, PM Modi and President Murmu jointly visited her native Mayurbhanj district in Odisha, where they offered prayers at tribal sacred groves and reviewed education, skill development and livelihood initiatives.
Development Projects Worth Over Rs 47,600 Crore
The leaders also participated in a major event marking two years of the Odisha government, inaugurating and laying foundation stones for projects worth over Rs 47,600 crore. Spanning sectors such as energy, roads, healthcare, education, tourism and irrigation, the projects aim to boost infrastructure, connectivity, employment and inclusive growth.
Focus on Tribal Areas and Inclusive Growth
The visit combined a personal milestone for the President with a significant development push for Odisha. PM Modi and President Murmu reviewed ongoing initiatives in education, skill development and livelihood enhancement, particularly in tribal regions. The projects inaugurated include new roads, power plants, healthcare facilities and irrigation schemes designed to improve the quality of life for residents.
