PM Modi's State Visit to Israel Focuses on Strengthening Strategic Partnership
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed strong confidence on Wednesday that his official state visit to Israel would significantly consolidate the enduring bonds between the two nations. The visit aims to establish new objectives for the strategic partnership and advance a shared vision for a resilient, innovative, and prosperous future.
Warm Welcome and Initial Discussions
Upon arrival at Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv, Prime Minister Modi was warmly welcomed by his Israeli counterpart Benjamin Netanyahu and his wife Sara Netanyahu. Following the arrival ceremony, the two leaders engaged in a brief one-on-one meeting to discuss preliminary matters.
In a post on social media platform X, Prime Minister Modi stated, "Had an excellent meeting with PM Netanyahu. Expressed gratitude to him for the warm welcome earlier in the day. It is a delight to be back in Israel after nine years."
He further elaborated that they discussed a wide range of subjects aimed at boosting bilateral ties. Modi highlighted several sectors offering immense scope for close collaboration, including technology, water management, agriculture, and talent partnership. The leaders also discussed key regional developments affecting both nations.
Community Reception and Upcoming Formal Talks
At his hotel, Prime Minister Modi received an enthusiastic welcome from members of the Indian community and representatives of the Jewish Indian diaspora, according to the Ministry of External Affairs. Later, Prime Minister Netanyahu hosted a private dinner for his Indian counterpart.
The two leaders are scheduled to meet again on Thursday for formal delegation-level talks. These discussions will be followed by the signing of multiple Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) covering various areas of cooperation.
Strengthening Multifaceted Partnership
In his departure statement, Prime Minister Modi emphasized, "India and Israel share a robust and multifaceted Strategic Partnership that has witnessed remarkable growth and dynamism in recent years."
He expressed looking forward to discussions with Prime Minister Netanyahu aimed at further strengthening cooperation across multiple domains. These include science and technology, innovation, agriculture, water management, defense and security, trade and investment, as well as people-to-people ties.
Historic Parliamentary Address and Diaspora Engagement
This visit marks Prime Minister Modi's second official trip to Israel as Prime Minister. He highlighted a significant milestone, stating, "I will also have the honour of becoming the first Indian Prime Minister to address the Israeli Parliament, the Knesset."
He described this occasion as a tribute to the strong parliamentary and democratic ties that bind the two nations. Modi also expressed eagerness to interact with members of the Indian diaspora in Israel, acknowledging their long-standing role in nurturing the special friendship between India and Israel.
The visit underscores the deepening relationship between India and Israel, with both nations seeking to expand collaboration in critical areas that promise mutual benefits and shared progress.
