Suryakiran Aerobatic Team to Stage Spectacular Nine-Aircraft Display Over Jaipur
The Suryakiran aerobatic team, often hailed as the "Ambassadors of the Indian Air Force", is set to captivate audiences with a breathtaking nine-aircraft performance over the skies of Jaipur. This highly anticipated event will take place on February 20 and February 22 at the iconic Jal Mahal location, showcasing the team's renowned precision, skill, and impeccable teamwork.
Striking Hawk Mk-132 Jets and Jaw-Dropping Manoeuvres
The team will pilot the visually striking red-and-white Hawk Mk-132 jets, executing a series of awe-inspiring manoeuvres that highlight their exceptional flying capabilities. One of the most remarkable aspects of their performance is the extremely close proximity flying, with aircraft maintaining distances of less than five metres apart, a testament to their rigorous training and coordination.
Meet the Elite Pilots Behind the Display
The Suryakiran team comprises 14 highly skilled pilots, led by Group Captain Ajay Dasarathi, an experienced Su-30 MKI pilot. The deputy leader is Wing Commander Tejeshwar Singh, ensuring seamless execution of the complex aerial routines. Notably, three pilots have strong connections to Jaipur, adding a local touch to the event:
- Wing Commander Rajesh Kajla
- Wing Commander Ankit Vashisth
- Squadron Leader Sanjesh Singh
Indigenous Modifications and National Pride
In a significant display of indigenous technological advancement, the Hawk Mk-132 aircraft have undergone modifications developed entirely within India. According to a release from PRO Defence Rajasthan, the integration of smoke pods at the Indian Air Force's Base Repair Depot in Nashik enables the team to produce colored smoke during performances. This innovation allows the Suryakiran team to paint the sky with the colors of the Indian national flag—saffron, white, and green, symbolizing patriotism and national pride.
A Global and Asian Distinction
The Suryakiran aerobatic team holds a prestigious position as the only nine-aircraft aerobatic team in Asia, placing it among the elite few such teams worldwide. This distinction underscores the Indian Air Force's commitment to excellence and its ability to compete on the global stage in aerobatic displays.
This event promises to be a visual spectacle, combining cutting-edge aviation technology with the sheer talent of India's air force personnel, all set against the backdrop of Jaipur's historic landscape.
