Inter-State Youth Exchange Programme in Shillong Concludes with Success

The five-day inter-state youth exchange programme (ISYEP), held from February 19 to 23 at the Youth Hostel in Shillong, significantly enriched the experiences of young participants from the northeastern states. This initiative aimed to bridge cultural gaps and foster a sense of national unity among the youth.

Programme Launch and Participant Details

The programme was formally launched on February 20 at the Youth Hostel, marking the beginning of an immersive cultural journey. Altogether, 37 youth actively participated in the exchange, including a diverse group of 24 females and a 13-member male contingent from Mizoram who visited Meghalaya under this collaborative initiative.

Organizational Support and Valedictory Function

The youth exchange programme was organised by MY Bharat, Shillong, in collaboration with the Union ministry of youth affairs and sports, with active support from the directorate of sports and youth affairs of the Meghalaya government. It concluded successfully on Monday with a valedictory function where certificates and mementos were distributed to all participants, as confirmed by an official statement.

Cultural Immersion and Educational Activities

Over the course of five days, participants were introduced to Meghalaya’s rich history, culture, languages, customs, and food habits through detailed presentations by expert resource persons. They also embarked on visits to historical and significant sites in and around Shillong, providing hands-on learning experiences that deepened their understanding of the region's heritage.

Objectives and Future Exchange Plans

The primary objective of the programme was to facilitate cultural exchange, enhance mutual understanding among youths of paired states, and strengthen national unity and integrity. In a reciprocal move, a group of 37 participants from Meghalaya is scheduled to visit Mizoram in March, continuing the momentum of this impactful exchange and further promoting inter-state harmony.
