Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK president MK Stalin on Thursday took a swipe at actor-politician Vijay, advising him to focus on governance rather than searching for him in the Assembly. Speaking to reporters in Chennai, Stalin said, "Stop searching for me. Instead, concentrate on running the government effectively."
Stalin's Remarks on Alliance Politics
Stalin also hinted that the DMK might contest future elections without allies, signaling a potential shift in the party's electoral strategy. "We have always valued alliances, but the time has come to evaluate our options. The DMK is strong enough to stand on its own," he stated.
Background of the Exchange
The remarks come amid escalating tensions between Stalin and Vijay, who recently launched his political party. Vijay had earlier accused Stalin of avoiding direct debates in the Assembly. Stalin's response appears to dismiss these allegations, urging Vijay to prioritize administrative duties over political theatrics.
Impact on Tamil Nadu Politics
Political analysts suggest that Stalin's comments could reshape the state's political landscape. "If the DMK contests alone, it could fragment the opposition vote and benefit the ruling party," said political commentator R. S. Ravichandran. The DMK has traditionally relied on coalition partners to secure majorities.
Vijay's party, meanwhile, has been gaining traction among younger voters. "Stalin's challenge is a direct attempt to test Vijay's political mettle," added Ravichandran.
