Bengaluru Metro Riders Rejoice: Airport Buses Now Stop at Every Station
In a major boost for public transport integration, the Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) and the Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) have announced that airport buses will now have designated stops at all Namma Metro stations across the city. This initiative, confirmed in a BMRCL statement on Saturday, aims to significantly enhance accessibility and convenience for commuters traveling to Kempegowda International Airport.
Seamless Connectivity for Airport Travel
For the convenience of Metro commuters travelling to Kempegowda International Airport, BMTC Vayuvajra (Airport) bus stops have been provided at all Metro stations along the route, the statement highlighted. This move is part of a broader effort to create a more cohesive and user-friendly public transport network in Bengaluru, reducing the hassle of last-mile connectivity that has long plagued the city's commuters.
10 New Bus Stops Added Near Metro Stations
In addition to the airport bus stops, a collaborative effort between the BMRCL, BMTC, and Bengaluru traffic police has led to the introduction of 10 new bus stops near metro stations. This initiative is designed to further integrate the city's public transport systems, making journeys more seamless and accessible for all.
The decision to add these stops came after joint inspections revealed that many existing BMTC bus stops were located inconveniently far from metro stations. Based on this, BMTC has introduced new bus stops close to Metro stations with effect from 05.02.2026 on the Purple Line (Whitefield to Challaghatta) and the Green Line (Madavara to Silk Institute), the BMRCL explained.
For other metro stations, bus stops are already available within 100 meters, or space constraints prevented new additions.

A Step Towards Integrated Urban Mobility
This development marks a significant step forward in Bengaluru's public transport evolution. By linking metro and bus services more closely, authorities aim to reduce traffic congestion, lower carbon emissions, and provide a more reliable commuting experience. The integration of airport buses with the metro network is particularly noteworthy, as it simplifies travel for both residents and visitors heading to the international airport.
As Bengaluru continues to grow, such initiatives are crucial for building a sustainable and efficient urban transport system. Commuters can now look forward to smoother transitions between different modes of public transport, making daily travel and airport trips more convenient than ever before.
