In a crucial move ahead of the Maha Sivaratri festival, Andhra Pradesh Energy Minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar has issued strict directives to the state's DISCOMs to guarantee zero power interruptions and maintain a reliable, uninterrupted electricity supply to all temples and their surrounding areas across the state.
Teleconference with DISCOM Officials
Minister Ravi Kumar conducted a detailed teleconference on Wednesday with the Chairmen and Managing Directors (CMDs) of the AP DISCOMs, including L Siva Sankar, I Prudhvi Tej, and P Pulla Reddy, along with senior officials from the Energy department. The meeting focused on reviewing the preparedness of the power supply infrastructure in anticipation of the upcoming Sivaratri festival.
Emphasis on Smooth Religious Programs
During the discussions, the Energy Minister emphasized that a continuous and stable power supply is absolutely critical for the smooth conduct of religious programs and the convenience of the large number of devotees expected to visit major Siva temples and other shrines during the festival. He highlighted the importance of ensuring that all religious activities proceed without any disruptions due to power issues.
Key Instructions for DISCOMs
On this occasion, Ravi Kumar instructed the DISCOMs to implement all necessary measures to achieve zero power interruptions throughout the festival period. Specific directives included:
- Deploying standby power arrangements, such as generators or backup systems, wherever required to prevent any outages.
- Ensuring that maintenance teams are on 24x7 alert and fully prepared to promptly address and resolve any power-related issues that may arise.
- Conducting thorough checks and preemptive maintenance of power lines and substations serving temple areas to minimize the risk of failures.
The minister stressed that the reliability of the power supply is not just a technical requirement but a vital component in facilitating a peaceful and devotional atmosphere for the thousands of pilgrims participating in the Maha Sivaratri celebrations.
