Bandra-Khar Faces 14-Hour Water Disruption as BMC Conducts Urgent Repairs
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has announced a significant water supply interruption affecting several areas within the H West ward, which includes Bandra and Khar. This planned shutdown is scheduled for February 10, from 10 am to midnight, totaling 14 hours, to facilitate immediate repair work on a critical water channel.
Reason for the Water Cut
The civic body is taking swift action to address a leakage in a 900 mm-diameter water channel connected to the Pali Hill reservoir. This essential maintenance will be carried out along a stretch from the MHADA open plot near Qureshi Nagar slum pocket in Bandra West to the water channel adjacent to the Western Express Highway. Officials have emphasized that the repairs are necessary to prevent further water loss and ensure long-term supply stability.
Impact on Residents
During the repair period, some localities are expected to experience a complete water cut, while others may face low-pressure water supply. The BMC has strongly urged residents to store water in advance and use it judiciously to minimize inconvenience. Additionally, as a precautionary measure, the civic body has issued a directive for all affected households to boil water before drinking for the next few days to ensure safety and prevent potential health issues.
