Bangalore Urban Delegation Explores Chandigarh's Urban Development Success
A delegation comprising 55 members from the Hebbagodi City municipal council in Bangalore Urban recently embarked on a study tour to Chandigarh. The primary objective of this visit was to gain insights into Chandigarh's acclaimed urban development projects and successful models that have made it a benchmark for city planning in India.
Focus on Key Infrastructure and Management Systems
The delegation aimed to understand and analyze Chandigarh's best practices across several critical areas of urban management. These included solid waste management systems, which are essential for maintaining clean surroundings, as well as advanced sewage treatment plants and water treatment facilities that ensure sustainable resource use. Additionally, the visit covered the town planning system, which organizes the city into well-structured sectors, community centres that foster social cohesion, and comprehensive road development and related infrastructure projects.

Upon arrival, the delegation was warmly welcomed by Chandigarh's city mayor, Saurabh Joshi, and the municipal council chief, Amit Kumar. The delegates expressed their admiration for Chandigarh's meticulously planned sectors, pristine environments, and highly organized infrastructure. They noted that the visit was exceptionally informative and provided valuable lessons that could be adapted to enhance similar systems in their own city of Hebbagodi.
