In a decisive move to combat plastic pollution, the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation (MC) executed a targeted enforcement drive on Wednesday, focusing on the Manimajra area. This initiative underscores the civic body's unwavering zero-tolerance policy towards single-use plastics, which are notorious for their detrimental environmental impact.
Enforcement Actions and Penalties Issued
During the surprise raid, MC officials took stringent action against violators found using prohibited polythene materials. A total of 13 challans were issued to defaulters, highlighting the authorities' commitment to strict compliance with environmental regulations. The MC has emphatically stated that such enforcement measures will persist, with regular and unannounced inspections planned to deter future violations and ensure adherence to plastic ban norms.
