Dharwad: As part of the Special Summary Revision directed by the Election Commission of India (ECI), the district administration has been undertaking the process of linking the 2025 electoral roll with the 2002 voter list through mapping and progeny verification, district election officer and deputy commissioner Snehal R has announced.
Mapping Process Details
In an official release, she stated that voters aged 40 years and above in the 2025 electoral roll, along with their family members, are being mapped to the 2002 voter database. Voters whose details have not yet been covered under the mapping and progeny process have been urged to come forward and ensure inclusion by submitting the required documents.
Documents Required for Verification
A wide range of documents can be furnished for verification, including identity cards issued by the Central or State governments, birth certificates, passports, educational certificates, residence proofs, and caste certificates. As per Supreme Court guidelines, Aadhaar will not be considered proof of citizenship but will be accepted as a valid identity document.
Progress and Special Drive
The administration reported that across the district's seven assembly constituencies, as of May 6, 2026, 65.8% progress has been achieved in the mapping exercise, while progeny mapping has exceeded expectations at 108.5%. Overall, the combined mapping and progeny work has reached 83.8% completion. To cover the remaining voters, a three-day special drive has been scheduled from May 8 to May 10.
During this period, booth level officers will be present at all polling stations from 8am to 6pm to facilitate the process. The public has been advised to visit their respective polling booths and verify whether their names and those of their family members have been included under the mapping and progeny exercise. Those left out are encouraged to complete the process within the special drive period, the DC added.
