Union Minister Nitin Gadkari Inspects Nagpur's New Town Hall Construction
Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, conducted a detailed inspection of the ongoing construction of the new Shrimant Raje Raghuji Rao Bhonsle Sabhagruha, commonly known as the Town Hall, in Nagpur's Mahal area on Sunday. During his visit, Gadkari issued clear directives to officials to transform this facility into a cutting-edge civic centre equipped with the latest technology and modern amenities.
Emphasis on Quality and Infrastructure Standards
The project, which is being executed by the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC), has reached its final construction phase. Gadkari stressed that there should be absolutely no compromise on the quality of materials used throughout the auditorium and all other sections of the building. Drawing a direct comparison with the prestigious Central Vista project in New Delhi, the minister suggested that Nagpur's new Town Hall should achieve comparable high standards in multiple critical areas.
These areas include infrastructure robustness, interior design excellence, seating comfort, acoustic perfection, advanced air-conditioning systems, and overall aesthetic appeal. Gadkari's vision positions the Town Hall as a benchmark for civic infrastructure in the region.
Integration with Heritage Structure and Modern Features
In addition to reviewing the main construction, Gadkari, who serves as Nagpur's Member of Parliament, examined the strengthening work being carried out on the adjacent heritage structure. He instructed officials to ensure that the new building's beautification efforts harmonize with and complement the architectural character of the old heritage building, preserving Nagpur's historical legacy while embracing modernity.
The minister provided specific suggestions for enhancing the facility's functionality, including upgraded microphone systems for clear audio, improved seating arrangements for better comfort and accessibility, and efficient climate control systems to maintain optimal environmental conditions throughout the year.
