In a significant move to boost educational facilities in the remote Kinnaur district, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Tuesday announced a substantial allocation of Rs 10 crore for the construction of the Rajiv Gandhi Day Boarding School at Kalpa. This announcement was made during the Chief Minister's visit to the area, where he personally inspected the ongoing construction work and emphasized the need for timely completion.
Focus on Quality and Speed in Construction Projects
During his inspection of the under-construction school building and a sports hostel in Kalpa, Chief Minister Sukhu directed officials to expedite all ongoing works to ensure they are finished on schedule. He specifically instructed the public works department to accelerate the construction process while maintaining high-quality standards. Sukhu stressed that quality and speed must go hand in hand to provide students with a conducive learning environment as soon as possible.
Additional Funding for Balika Ashram and Other Initiatives
In addition to the Rs 10 crore for the school, the Chief Minister also announced Rs 2 crore for the construction of a Balika Ashram within the school premises. This facility is expected to provide residential support for girl students, enhancing access to education in the region. To oversee the progress and prevent delays, Sukhu has asked Revenue Minister Jagat Singh Negi to closely monitor both the school and ashram projects.
Support for Ex-Servicemen and Public Engagement
Earlier in the day, at Reckong Peo, Chief Minister Sukhu met with a delegation from the District Ex-Servicemen Association, who sought financial assistance for a Sainik Rest House. Responding positively, Sukhu announced Rs 2 crore for this facility, demonstrating the government's commitment to supporting veterans. Throughout his visit, he also interacted with residents at Reckong Peo and Kalpa, actively listening to their grievances and concerns.
This series of announcements underscores the Himachal Pradesh government's focus on improving infrastructure and welfare in the Kinnaur district, with a particular emphasis on education and community support.
