Madhya Pradesh's Power Relief Scheme Achieves Major Recovery Milestone
In a significant development for power consumers across the state, officials from the Madhya Kshetra Vidyut Vitaran Company (MKVVCL) have announced that the Madhya Pradesh government's Samadhan Yojana 2025-26 has successfully recovered over Rs 548.97 crore as principal amount from more than 5.5 lakh defaulting electricity consumers. Simultaneously, the scheme has provided substantial financial relief by waiving surcharges worth Rs 266.75 crore to date.
Final Phase Offers Generous Surcharge Waiver Until February 28
The relief initiative, specifically designed to assist consumers struggling with electricity bills pending for more than three months, is currently in its second and conclusive phase. This final window of opportunity will remain operational until February 28, offering eligible participants the chance to secure up to 90% waiver on accumulated surcharges by making a single lump sum payment of their outstanding dues.
Launched on November 3 last year, the Samadhan Yojana has witnessed remarkable participation across the region, with an impressive 5,50,475 consumers registering to regularize their electricity connections. Power distribution officials emphasized that the program has proven particularly beneficial for consumers who found themselves trapped in a cycle of debt due to escalating delayed payment surcharges.
Flexible Payment Options with Varying Relief Benefits
Under the ongoing final phase, the scheme provides differentiated benefits based on payment preferences:
- Consumers opting for a one-time payment can avail substantial surcharge waivers ranging from 70% to 90%
- Those choosing to pay through installments can still secure meaningful relief between 50% and 60% on surcharges
The initiative operates on the fundamental principle of encouraging early and complete settlements to maximize financial benefits for both consumers and the power distribution system.
Registration Process and Initial Deposit Requirements
To participate in this final phase, eligible consumers must register through multiple accessible channels:
- The official MKVVCL portal at portal.mpcz.in
- The company's dedicated mobile application
- Authorized Common Service Centres (CSCs)
- MP Online kiosks across the state
At the time of registration, participants must make an initial deposit based on their consumer category:
- Domestic and agricultural consumers: Required to deposit 10% of their total outstanding amount
- Non-domestic and industrial consumers: Must deposit 25% of their total outstanding dues
Urgent Appeal to Eligible Consumers
Power distribution officials have issued a final appeal to all eligible consumers who missed the first phase of the scheme, urging them to take advantage of this concluding opportunity before the program ends later this month. The Samadhan Yojana represents a crucial initiative to clear long-pending electricity dues while providing meaningful financial relief to consumers burdened by accumulated surcharges.
The successful recovery of over half a billion rupees in principal amounts demonstrates the scheme's effectiveness in addressing the challenge of electricity bill defaults while maintaining a consumer-friendly approach through substantial surcharge waivers.
