Prayagraj MP Proposes Comprehensive Road Infrastructure Overhaul
Prayagraj Member of Parliament Ujjwal Raman Singh conducted a detailed inspection of the critical road stretch from Leprosy crossing to Manda Road in the city. During this visit, he engaged with officials from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and put forward a series of strategic recommendations aimed at enhancing infrastructure and significantly reducing public inconvenience.
Key Recommendations for Immediate Action
Elevated Road Construction: Singh strongly advocated for the construction of an elevated road starting from Leprosy crossing and extending up to Saraswati Hi-Tech City. This proposal is specifically designed to prevent potential damage to residential houses and commercial shops in the Naini area that could occur due to traditional road widening methods.
Major Junction Development: The MP emphasized the necessity of developing a major traffic junction at Saraswati Hi-Tech City. This junction would serve as a crucial connector to the existing Inner Ring Road, thereby improving overall traffic management and flow within the region.
Toll Plaza Widening: To address persistent traffic bottlenecks, Singh proposed the widening of the Mungari toll plaza. This expansion is expected to facilitate smoother vehicle movement and reduce congestion at this key checkpoint.
Addressing Chronic Congestion on Meja Road
Singh highlighted the frequent and severe congestion issues plaguing Meja Road. To provide a sustainable solution, he emphasized the urgent need for constructing bypasses through several adjacent areas. The proposed bypass routes would traverse through Katholi, Janwar, Bandhwa, Delhawa, Pausiya, Amora, Lakhanpur, and Bisjan, effectively diverting traffic and alleviating pressure on the main thoroughfare.
Long-Term Strategic Proposals
MP representative Vinay Kushwaha revealed that two major long-term proposals were also presented during the discussions with NHAI officials.
Riverfront Highway (Ganga Path): The first proposal involves the construction of a comprehensive riverfront highway, tentatively named Ganga Path, stretching from Arail to Mirzapur along the banks of the Ganga River. This ambitious project is noted for facing minimal land acquisition challenges and is projected to play a significant role in controlling flood damage in the region.
Elevated Flyovers Across Markets: The second proposal focuses on building elevated flyovers across various market areas situated between Naini and Mirzapur. This initiative is specifically designed to minimize disruption to local businesses and daily commuters during any future road expansion projects.
These comprehensive recommendations underscore a concerted effort to modernize Prayagraj's road network, improve traffic efficiency, and enhance the overall quality of life for residents while supporting economic activities in the region.
