Central Railway Announces Major Timetable Overhaul for Nagpur-Linked Trains
The Central Railway has officially announced comprehensive revisions to the timings of several crucial trains connected to Nagpur, with the new operational schedule set to be implemented from April 14, 2026. This significant adjustment will directly impact the arrival and departure timings of key long-distance and regional passenger trains, necessitating careful planning for commuters and travelers.
Major Changes to Mumbai-Nagpur Duronto Express Schedule
The most substantial modification affects the premium train No. 12289/12290 CSMT-Nagpur-CSMT Duronto Express. Commencing April 14, 2026, the train departing from Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus will now leave at 8:35 PM, a shift from the current departure time of 7:55 PM. Consequently, its arrival in Nagpur is rescheduled to 7:50 AM instead of the existing 8:05 AM.
For the return journey, the Nagpur-Mumbai Duronto Express will depart from Nagpur at 7:55 PM, advancing from the current 8:30 PM departure, and is expected to reach Mumbai at 8:20 AM. Railway officials have confirmed that these revisions will result in a slight increase in the overall travel duration for this popular express service.
Revised Arrival Timings for Pune-Nagpur Train Services
Central Railway has also implemented timing adjustments for two important Pune–Nagpur train services. Both the Pune–Nagpur Garib Rath Express (12113) and the Pune–Nagpur Superfast Express (12135), which operate thrice weekly, will now arrive in Nagpur at 9:20 AM, a ten-minute delay from the previous arrival time of 9:10 AM.
The new timings for these specific services are scheduled to take effect from April 14-15, 2026, aligning with the broader timetable overhaul. Passengers relying on these connections are urged to note the adjusted schedules to avoid any travel disruptions.
Additional Adjustments for Regional Passenger Trains
Further extending the scope of revisions, a minor change has been introduced for the Amravati-Ajni Express (12119). From April 14, 2026, this train will now reach Ajni station at 8:30 AM, a five-minute adjustment from its current arrival time of 8:25 AM. This modification, though seemingly small, is part of a coordinated effort to optimize train movements across the region.
Operational Rationale and Passenger Advisory
Railway authorities have clarified that these timing revisions are integral to operational adjustments designed to enhance efficiency and streamline train movements on increasingly busy routes. By recalibrating schedules, Central Railway aims to improve punctuality and reduce congestion, ultimately benefiting the overall rail network.
In light of these changes, passengers traveling to and from Nagpur, as well as those utilizing the affected intercity services, are strongly advised to consult the updated official timetable before finalizing their travel plans. Proactive verification will help ensure smooth journeys and prevent any inconvenience arising from the revised train timings.
