The Karnataka state government has granted approval for the establishment of a new Government Tool Shop and Training Centre (GTTC) in Jewargi taluk, Kalaburagi district. This development marks a significant milestone for the youth of Jewargi and surrounding areas, promising enhanced technical education and skill development opportunities.
The state cabinet approved the proposal on April 30, 2026, as announced by Jewargi MLA and KKRDB president Ajay Singh. The new GTTC will be set up at a total cost of Rs 73.7 crore under the Kalyana Karnataka Region Development Board (KKRDB) scheme.
This decision addresses the long-standing need for improved technical education and skill development in the Jewargi region, which has been facing industrial and economic challenges. The proposed campus will feature a modern training block, workshops, accommodation facilities for students, staff quarters, and advanced machinery, Ajay Singh stated.
The centre will offer diploma programmes in artificial intelligence and machine learning, as well as electronics and communication engineering. Additionally, short-term skill development courses tailored to industry requirements will be conducted. The facility is expected to train over 750 students annually, with students receiving industry-linked in-plant training and a monthly stipend ranging from Rs 15,000 to Rs 25,000.
This initiative reflects the government's commitment to strengthening the industrial environment of the Kalyana Karnataka region for equitable development and welfare under Article 371(J) of the Constitution. It will help increase employment opportunities for local youth and promote inclusive economic growth, Ajay Singh added.
KKRDB chairman and Jewargi MLA Ajay Singh thanked and congratulated Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, and all cabinet ministers who approved the GTTC project for Jewargi.
