PM Modi Calls for Integrated Approach to Business Reforms
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday urged top bureaucrats to prioritize ease of doing business, emphasizing a whole-of-government approach to break departmental silos and foster integrated planning. The meeting, which included secretaries from key ministries, focused on streamlining regulations and improving coordination to attract investment and boost economic growth.

According to a statement from the Prime Minister's Office, Modi stressed that departments must work collaboratively rather than in isolation. He highlighted the need for single-window clearances and digital integration to reduce compliance burdens. The PM also called for periodic reviews of reform progress and asked officials to identify bottlenecks in implementation.
Modi pointed out that India's ranking in global ease of doing business indices has improved but more needs to be done to reach the top 50. He cited examples of states that have successfully implemented reforms and urged central ministries to replicate best practices.
Focus on Investment and Job Creation
The discussion also covered measures to promote domestic manufacturing and attract foreign direct investment. Officials presented updates on the production-linked incentive (PLI) schemes and infrastructure projects. Modi emphasized that ease of doing business is critical for job creation and urged ministries to set measurable targets.
One senior official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the PM's message was clear: "We need to think beyond our own departments and work as a team. The goal is to make India a preferred destination for business."
Reforms Underway
Several initiatives were reviewed, including the National Single Window System for approvals, the digitization of land records, and the simplification of labor laws. Modi asked for a timeline to fully operationalize these systems and directed ministries to report on user feedback regularly.
The meeting concluded with a commitment to hold quarterly reviews to track progress. The PM's intervention is seen as a push to accelerate reforms ahead of the next global investment summit.
