Punjab CM Dedicates 500 Village Gyms to Fight Drugs

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Sunday dedicated 500 modern village gyms across the state from Chandbaja village in Faridkot, framing the initiative as a critical component of the ongoing 'Yudh Nashean Virudh' campaign aimed at steering youth away from substance abuse. He made the announcement during a Lok Milni gathering in the village.

Record Sports Budget and Infrastructure Targets

Backed by a record Rs 1,791 crore sports budget, the state government has set ambitious targets: establishing 3,000 modern village gyms at a cost of nearly Rs 200 crore and developing 3,100 sports grounds across Punjab. According to the Chief Minister, 250 grounds have already been handed over for use.

Village Pond Rejuvenation and Water Conservation

Mann also announced a large-scale drive to rejuvenate village ponds. Treated water from these ponds will be channeled for agricultural use, reducing dependence on groundwater and promoting sustainable farming practices.
