Punjab Government Implements Major Bureaucratic Reshuffle, Transfers 96 Officers
In a significant administrative overhaul, the Punjab government has executed a major bureaucratic reshuffle, transferring a total of 96 officers. This move, approved by Governor Gulab Chand Kataria on Friday, involves eight Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers and 88 Punjab Civil Service (PCS) officers, marking one of the largest such exercises in recent state history.
Key Appointments and Transfers in the Reshuffle
The reshuffle includes several high-profile appointments across various districts and departments. Among the notable changes, 2020-batch IAS officer Rajdeep Singh Brar has been posted as the Additional Deputy Commissioner for Urban Development in Bathinda. In addition to this role, Brar will also serve as the Additional Chief Administrator of the Bathinda Development Authority, taking over from Narinder Singh.
Another key appointment is Rubinderjit Singh Brar, who has been named as the Additional Chief Executive Officer of the Punjab Bureau of Investment Promotion. His responsibilities will extend to holding the charge of Additional Secretary for NRI Affairs and Additional Secretary for Local Government, reflecting a multifaceted role in state administration.
New Roles for Recent IAS Recruits
The reshuffle also brings fresh assignments for newer IAS officers. Divya P, a 2022-batch IAS officer, has been assigned the position of Additional Deputy Commissioner for Rural Development in Jalandhar. Similarly, Vivek Kumar Modi, also from the 2022 batch, has been posted as the Additional Deputy Commissioner for General Administration in Barnala.
Further appointments include Krishna Pal Rajpoot as the Additional Deputy Commissioner for Rural Development in Ferozepur, and Davy Goyal as the Additional Deputy Commissioner for General Administration in Muktsar. Kritika Goyal has been posted as the Divisional Magistrate in Mehal Kalan, adding to the diverse geographical spread of the transfers.
Additional Administrative Changes
In another move, the services of Rakesh Kumar Meena have been placed at the disposal of the Department of Local Government. He is set to be posted as the Joint Commissioner of the Municipal Corporation in Bathinda. This appointment will relieve Jaspal Singh Brar, a PCS officer, of his additional charge, streamlining administrative functions in the region.
This comprehensive reshuffle underscores the Punjab government's focus on optimizing bureaucratic efficiency and ensuring effective governance across the state. The transfers are expected to bring new energy and perspectives to key administrative roles, potentially impacting local development and public service delivery in the coming months.
