Rajasthan Launches Comprehensive Anti-Drug Initiative Raj-SAVERA

Finance Minister Diya Kumari unveiled a major statewide anti-drug program titled Raj-SAVERA on Wednesday. The initiative, which stands for Statewide Anti-Drugs Vigilance, Enforcement, Rehabilitation and Awareness, represents a unified governmental response to the growing drug menace across Rajasthan.

Integrated Approach to Combat Drug Abuse

The Raj-SAVERA program seeks to integrate multiple critical components into a cohesive strategy against drug abuse. According to Minister Kumari, the initiative will combine enforcement measures with healthcare interventions and extensive community outreach efforts. This comprehensive approach aims to create a multi-layered defense system against drug trafficking and addiction throughout the state.

The ultimate objective of Raj-SAVERA is to make Rajasthan completely drug-free, addressing both the supply and demand sides of the problem through coordinated action across various government departments and community organizations.

Digital Monitoring Through Online Portal

A key technological component of the initiative involves developing an online portal specifically designed to monitor psychotropic drug sales at the chemist level. This digital system will provide continuous, real-time surveillance of pharmaceutical transactions across Rajasthan.

The portal is expected to significantly enhance transparency in drug distribution while simultaneously curbing potential misuse of controlled substances. Regulatory authorities will be able to detect irregular patterns in drug sales swiftly, enabling more proactive intervention against illegal activities.

Expansion of Treatment Infrastructure

To address the rehabilitation needs of those affected by drug addiction, the Raj-SAVERA program includes provisions for establishing dedicated de-addiction wards in district hospitals throughout Rajasthan. These specialized facilities will offer:

  • Structured medical care for physical withdrawal symptoms
  • Professional counseling services for psychological support
  • Comprehensive rehabilitation programs for long-term recovery

By expanding treatment infrastructure across the state, the government aims to ensure accessible support services for individuals struggling with substance abuse, regardless of their location within Rajasthan.

Community Awareness and Enforcement

Beyond technological and medical interventions, Raj-SAVERA emphasizes community engagement as a crucial element of its strategy. The program will implement awareness campaigns to educate the public about the dangers of drug abuse while encouraging community participation in prevention efforts.

Simultaneously, enforcement agencies will receive enhanced resources and coordination mechanisms to more effectively combat drug trafficking networks operating within the state. This balanced approach of prevention, treatment, and enforcement represents Rajasthan's most comprehensive effort to date against the drug epidemic.
