The Uttarakhand government has recommended the immediate dismissal from service of former Haridwar Municipal Commissioner Varun Chaudhary in connection with the Haridwar Municipal Corporation land purchase case. The state government has also initiated major penalty proceedings against former Haridwar District Magistrate Karmendra Singh, who was found guilty of serious negligence in the discharge of his official duties and responsibilities.
Disciplinary Actions Taken
Directions have been issued to record an adverse entry in the service record of former Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Ajayveer Singh and to withhold his next three annual increments. These actions follow an initial probe that flagged irregularities, leading to the suspension of several officials, including Varun Chaudhary and Karmendra Singh.
Chief Minister's Stance
Reiterating the government's stand on corruption, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami stated that strict action would continue to be taken against officials found guilty. The state government has emphasized its commitment to accountability and transparency in public administration.
The case involves alleged irregularities in the purchase of land by the Haridwar Municipal Corporation, which came to light during a preliminary investigation. Further inquiries are expected to uncover additional details regarding the transactions and the roles of other officials involved.
