Visakhapatnam Mayor Announces Major Development Funding Under NDA Coalition
Visakhapatnam Mayor Peela Srinivasa Rao has declared that the coalition government is allocating substantial financial resources for the comprehensive development of all zones within the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) limits. This announcement underscores a significant push to enhance urban infrastructure and public welfare in the city.
Foundation Stones Laid for Rs 30.9 Crore Projects
On Sunday, Mayor Rao, alongside Visakhapatnam North MLA P Vishnukumar Raju, officially laid foundation stones for various development works totaling Rs 30.9 crore. This ceremony marked the initiation of key infrastructure projects aimed at improving connectivity and civic amenities across multiple neighborhoods.
Speaking at the event, Rao emphasized that the NDA government, led by Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, is providing robust support for Visakhapatnam's growth. "In the 2026–27 financial year budget, substantial funds have been allocated to develop Visakhapatnam as the economic capital of the state," stated the mayor. He highlighted that more than 530 major projects have been sanctioned, including a significant allocation of Rs 15 crore for the metro rail project, alongside other welfare schemes designed to benefit all societal segments.
Infrastructure Projects and Economic Vision
The inaugurated works encompass a range of critical infrastructure developments:
- Development of the Seethammadhara Giri Pradarshana road with an allocation of approximately Rs 30 crore.
- Construction of VRCC SW drains, culvert slabs, footpath tiles, and bitumen roads in key areas including Marriott Hotel junction to NGGO Colony, Narasimhanagar junction, ASR Nagar, and surrounding localities.
Rao further asserted that "both the development of the state and Visakhapatnam is possible only under the coalition government," reinforcing the administration's commitment to regional progress. He also praised North MLA P Vishnukumar Raju for his consistent efforts in advocating for and advancing development within his zone.
This initiative reflects a broader strategy to position Visakhapatnam as a hub of economic activity, with targeted investments in transportation, drainage systems, and road networks to foster sustainable urban growth and improve quality of life for residents.
