Hyderabad: Investigators are intensifying their search for Prabhu, a key figure from Udgir, who is allegedly a major procurer of ganja and wanted in multiple cases. This development follows the seizure of 200 kg of ganja by EAGLE sleuths two days ago.
Repeat Offender Arrested
Officials confirmed that Vasantha Jadhav, recently apprehended, is a repeat offender. “Acting on instructions from Prabhu, based in Udgir, Maharashtra, she successfully transported 100 kg of ganja on two separate occasions. On the third attempt, we arrested her following a tip-off about her involvement in transporting ganja,” police stated.
Network and Operations
Investigators revealed that Prabhu and Vasantha are actively engaged in procuring ganja and supplying it to districts including Nanded, Latur, Nizamabad, and surrounding areas. Vasantha had previously been arrested by Latur police for drug trafficking. “Following Prabhu’s orders, she hired a commercial transport vehicle at Bodhan and accompanied it in another vehicle as a pilot,” officials added.
The syndicate sourced large quantities of ganja from Andhra Pradesh and Odisha. “Prabhu finances his gang members for logistics. Once he receives bulk ganja, Vasantha and her associate Ansari are paid ₹10,000 per kg,” she confessed.
Police Surveillance
Vasantha was wanted in a case registered in Nalgonda district. Police had kept her under surveillance for an extended period after her release from a Maharashtra jail. “As anticipated, she was caught in Khammam with 200 kg of ganja,” EAGLE officials reported.
Financial Transactions
Another key associate of Prabhu, identified as Anmol, allegedly transferred ₹1 lakh to Devi Singh in Andhra Pradesh for the bulk supply of drugs. “We are actively tracing Prabhu, who is wanted in several cases and has managed to evade capture. He operates an organized gang,” officials stated.
After procuring ganja in bulk, Prabhu distributes it to several agents operating in Maharashtra.
