3 Die in Goregaon House Fire, Electrical Fault Suspected

A horrific fire in a residential building in Mumbai's western suburbs claimed the lives of three members of a family in the early hours of Saturday. The incident has sent shockwaves through the Bhagatsingh Nagar locality in Goregaon (West).

Tragic Loss in the Dead of Night

The Mumbai Fire Brigade (MFB) received an urgent call at around 3:06 am reporting a blaze in a ground-plus-one-storey structure. By the time help arrived, the fire had already engulfed parts of the home, spreading rapidly through electric wiring and household articles on the ground floor. Flames also raced through clothing stored on the first floor, creating a deadly trap for the occupants inside.

Alert neighbours, awakened by the commotion, rushed to the scene in a desperate bid to help. They attempted to fight the flames using buckets of water before the professional firefighting teams could reach the spot. Their courageous efforts, however, could not prevent the tragedy that unfolded within the burning house.

Rescue Efforts and Fatal Outcome

Fire personnel, upon arrival, worked swiftly to cut off the electric supply to prevent the fire from worsening. They then managed to completely extinguish the blaze by 3:16 am. During the operation, they rescued three individuals who were trapped inside the burning home.

The victims were immediately rushed for medical aid. They were transported using a police van and a private vehicle to the nearby Trauma Care Hospital in Goregaon. Despite the rapid response, doctors at the hospital could not save them. All three were declared dead upon arrival. They had sustained severe burn injuries.

The deceased have been identified as Harshada Pawaskar (19), Kushal Pawaskar (12), and Sanjog Pawaskar (48). The loss of two young lives, including that of a child, has added to the profound grief of the community.

Investigation into the Cause

While the exact cause of the fire is still under investigation, preliminary details strongly point towards a fault in the electrical wiring as the origin of the disaster. Officials have confirmed that a detailed probe is currently underway to ascertain the precise sequence of events that led to this fatal incident.

This tragic event in Goregaon serves as a grim reminder of the ever-present danger of fire hazards in densely populated urban areas. It underscores the critical importance of regular electrical safety checks and having functional fire safety measures in every household.
