Fatal Accident in Almora District
Four people were killed and two others sustained serious injuries after their car veered off the road and plunged into a deep gorge in the Lamgara area of Almora district on Monday, according to officials from the State Emergency Operation Centre.
The incident occurred around 3:30 pm near Kanra village, as the vehicle was traveling from Lamgara to Chaikhan. The car reportedly lost control and fell into the gorge, resulting in the deaths of four occupants. The two injured individuals are in critical condition.
Rescue and Medical Evacuation
Emergency response teams promptly arrived at the scene. The injured were airlifted to Sushila Tiwari Hospital in Haldwani for advanced medical treatment, officials confirmed. The cause of the accident is under investigation, with preliminary reports suggesting a possible loss of control due to the challenging terrain.
Local authorities have urged drivers to exercise caution on hilly roads, especially during monsoon season when conditions can be hazardous. The tragedy highlights ongoing concerns about road safety in Uttarakhand's mountainous regions.
