Lawyers Refuse to Represent Accused in Ayodhya Temple Fund Theft Case
The Bar Association of Ayodhya has announced that no lawyer will represent the accused in the alleged theft of funds meant for the Ram temple construction. The association has also demanded that two key figures, Champat Rai and Anil Mishra, leave the city immediately. A fine of Rs 5 lakh will be imposed on any lawyer who agrees to represent them, and such a lawyer will lose membership of the association, according to a statement by Mishra.
Background of the Case
The controversy erupted after allegations surfaced that funds collected for the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya were misappropriated. The accused are believed to be involved in the management of the temple trust. The Bar Association's decision reflects widespread anger among the legal community in Ayodhya over the alleged financial irregularities.
Impact on Legal Proceedings
The boycott could significantly impact the accused's ability to secure legal representation. Without lawyers, the accused may face difficulties in presenting their case in court. The association's strict stance aims to ensure accountability and transparency in the handling of temple funds.
