Court Extends Custody of Accused in Ketan Agarwal Murder Case
A Pune court on Monday extended the police custody of Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary, the two accused in the murder of businessman Ketan Agarwal, until July 3. The duo was produced before the court of Judicial Magistrate A M Vibhute in Vadgaon Maval after their initial police custody ended.
Details of the Case
Ketan Agarwal, a 35-year-old entrepreneur, was found dead under mysterious circumstances earlier this month. The police arrested Goyal and Chaudhary on June 25, 2026, and they have been in custody since. The investigation has revealed that the accused allegedly conspired to kill Agarwal over a financial dispute.
According to police sources, the accused had been planning the murder for several weeks. They allegedly lured Agarwal to a secluded location, where they killed him and attempted to dispose of the body. The police have recovered key evidence, including the murder weapon and Agarwal's mobile phone, from the accused.
Legal Proceedings
The prosecution argued that the accused needed to be in police custody for further interrogation to unearth the entire conspiracy. The defense opposed the extension, claiming that the police had already completed the investigation. However, the court granted the extension, stating that the investigation was still in progress.
"The court has extended the custody to allow the police to complete their investigation. The accused will be produced again on July 3," said public prosecutor Sandeep Parkhe.
The next hearing is scheduled for July 3, when the police are expected to file a progress report.
Impact on the Community
The murder has sent shockwaves through the local business community. Agarwal was a well-known figure in Pune's startup ecosystem. His family has demanded a thorough investigation and strict punishment for the accused.
"We trust the judicial system and hope that the guilty are brought to justice," said Agarwal's brother, Rohan Agarwal.
