Lawyers refuse to represent accused in Ayodhya temple fund theft case

The Bar Association of Ayodhya has announced that no lawyer will represent the accused in the alleged fund theft case related to the Ram temple construction. The association also threatened a fine of Rs 5 lakh on any lawyer who takes up the case, along with revocation of their membership. Additionally, the lawyers have demanded that Champat Rai and Anil Mishra, key figures associated with the temple trust, leave the city immediately.

Details of the decision

According to association president Sanjay Mishra, the decision was taken unanimously during a meeting held on Monday. He stated, "A fine of Rs five lakh will be imposed on any one who represents them… he will also lose the membership of the Association." The lawyers accuse Rai and Mishra of misusing temple funds and have called for a thorough investigation.

Impact on the temple trust

The development puts pressure on the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, which oversees the temple construction. Champat Rai is the general secretary of the trust, while Anil Mishra is a member. The trust has not yet commented on the allegations or the lawyers' demands. The case has sparked political controversy, with opposition parties demanding a CBI probe into the alleged financial irregularities.
