Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dr. Mehtab Singh confirmed that the arrested individuals are Malkeet Singh, alias Billa, Ravi Singh, Shubham, Baldev Singh, alias Karan, and Kazan. All five are alleged associates of Aman Anda, a gangster based in Germany who is believed to be the mastermind behind a series of extortion demands and violent attacks in Batala. “With the arrest of these extortionists, all five cases that took place recently in the city have been solved,” the SSP stated.

According to police officials, Amanpreet Singh, also known as Aman Anda, has been operating from Germany and recruiting local youth and shooters to carry out his criminal activities. He recently made extortion calls demanding Rs 10 lakh from Varinder Singh, the owner of a fashion store in Batala. When the victim approached the police, Anda’s shooters retaliated by firing six rounds of bullets at the victim’s house. This incident was one of five similar cases that had been reported in the city over the past few weeks, targeting businessmen and restaurant owners.
