Bengaluru Murder Probe: Husband Hired Hitman from Salem, Paid Rs 1.5 Lakh Advance
Bengaluru Murder: Husband Hired Salem Hitman, Paid Rs 1.5 Lakh

The investigation into the shocking murder of Bhuvaneshwari, who was allegedly shot dead by her husband Balamuragan on Bengaluru's Magadi Road last month, has taken a sinister turn. Police have uncovered a failed contract killing plot, revealing that the accused had initially hired a habitual criminal from Tamil Nadu to execute the crime.

The Failed Contract and the Recce

According to police officials, Balamuragan came into contact with a 25-year-old man named Moulesh Kumar while searching for "rowdies" on a social media platform. Kumar, a habitual offender from Salem, Tamil Nadu, with a history of murder and burglary cases, agreed to carry out the killing for a price.

Balamuragan paid an advance of Rs 1.5 lakh to Kumar for the murder. Kumar subsequently travelled to Bengaluru, conducted a reconnaissance of the area, and even advised Balamuragan on how to carry out the act in locations with no CCTV camera coverage. However, Kumar later began delaying the execution and demanded more money.

Husband Takes Matters Into His Own Hands

Believing that Kumar would not follow through with the plan, Balamuragan allegedly decided to carry out the brutal act himself. "Kumar demanded Rs 1.5 lakh, claiming he would shoot the victim, but later delayed and sought more money. Believing he would not follow through, Balamuragan carried out the act himself," stated an investigating officer.

This revelation adds a premeditated and cold-blooded dimension to the crime that occurred last month, shifting it from a potential crime of passion to a meticulously planned homicide.

Arrest and Further Questioning

Despite not being the triggerman, Moulesh Kumar's alleged involvement in the conspiracy has led to his arrest. Kumar, who was previously lodged in Salem prison in connection with a house burglary case, has been brought to Bengaluru on a body warrant for intensive questioning by the city police.

The arrest underscores the police's efforts to unravel the entire conspiracy, from the initial planning stages to the final, tragic execution. The case highlights the alarming ease with which individuals can seek out criminal assistance through social media platforms.

The investigation is ongoing as authorities piece together the full sequence of events and the communication between Balamuragan and Kumar. The Bengaluru police are likely to pursue stringent charges against both individuals for conspiracy and murder.
