In a significant development for law and order, Bhilwara district has witnessed a sharp decline in criminal activities over the past year. Senior police officials have announced a dual strategy of rewarding excellence within the force and taking stringent action against offenders, which appears to be yielding positive results.
Substantial Drop in Crime Statistics
Addressing a press conference at the Bhilwara SP office auditorium on Sunday, Superintendent of Police Dharmendra Singh revealed compelling data. The district registered 7,390 criminal cases in the year 2024. This number saw a remarkable decrease in 2025, with only 5,715 cases being reported. According to SP Singh, this translates to a 22.67% reduction in the overall crime rate for the district, marking a major achievement for the local police administration.
Honoring Bravery and Targeting Illicit Wealth
During the event, SP Dharmendra Singh honored 85 police officers and personnel with commendation certificates for their excellent work throughout the year. He stated that the core objective of these measures is twofold: to build confidence among the common citizens and to instill fear among those engaged in unlawful activities.
Moving beyond conventional policing, Singh outlined a powerful financial deterrent against crime. He declared that action is currently underway to attach the properties of 18 identified criminals in the district. This action is being pursued under the legal provisions of Section 107 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), targeting individuals who have acquired assets through proceeds of crime.
A Clear Message to Criminals
The announcement sends a clear and strong message about the police's renewed strategy. The focus is not just on apprehending criminals but also on dismantling the economic foundations of their illegal enterprises. By moving to confiscate properties believed to be purchased with money earned from crime, the police aim to hit offenders where it hurts the most—their wallets.
This combined approach of recognizing police merit and aggressively pursuing the seizure of illicit assets represents a comprehensive effort to create a safer environment for Bhilwara's residents. The significant drop in the crime graph serves as an early indicator that this strategy is having a tangible impact on ground-level security.
