New Delhi: Bomb threats were reported at three Army Public School (APS) branches and a CRPF school in the national capital on Monday morning, triggering an immediate response from emergency services and law enforcement agencies. All threats were later confirmed to be hoaxes.
Details of the Threats
According to the Delhi Fire Service (DFS), distress calls were received from three APS campuses located in and around central Delhi's Chanakyapuri area. The first call came from the Delhi Cantonment branch at 8:05 am, followed by the Dhaula Kuan branch at 8:59 am and the Shankar Vihar branch at 9:05 am. A fourth call was received from the CRPF School in Dwarka Sector 16 at 9:45 am.
Emergency Response
Treating the threats with utmost seriousness, Delhi Police and the DFS immediately activated standard emergency protocols. Bomb Disposal Teams (BDTs) and dog squads were deployed to all four campuses. They carried out thorough searches of classrooms, corridors, administrative offices, and surrounding areas. Security personnel remained on high alert throughout the operation.
Evacuation and Safety Measures
As a precaution, school authorities, in coordination with the police, evacuated students and staff in a controlled manner. They were escorted to designated safe areas outside the premises and kept under supervision while search operations were underway. No suspicious objects were found, and the threats were subsequently declared hoaxes.
Recent Spate of Bomb Threats
The incident comes amid a recent spate of bomb threat calls targeting public places and educational institutions in the capital. Two days ago, a bomb threat triggered an extensive security sweep at the Rohini Sector 18 Metro Station. Earlier this month, Ramjas College and Miranda House were evacuated after receiving bomb threat emails. Last month, a similar email warned of explosions at the Delhi Assembly building and a metro station.
Authorities have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity. Investigations are ongoing to trace the origin of the calls.
