CCTV Coverage to Expand at Karnal Railway Station with 17 New Cameras
CCTV Expansion at Karnal Railway Station with 17 New Cameras

The Railway Protection Force (RPF) is expanding the CCTV surveillance network at Karnal railway station by adding cameras at 17 new locations, increasing total coverage from 23 to 40 sites. This initiative aims to bolster passenger safety and security across the station premises.

Wiring Work Underway for New Cameras

An RPF official confirmed that wiring for the additional cameras has already commenced and installation will be completed shortly. The existing cameras cover platforms, entry and exit gates, and other sensitive areas. The new cameras will fill gaps in the remaining parts of the station, providing comprehensive monitoring.

“Once the project is completed, CCTV cameras will be operational at 40 locations across the railway station,” the official said, emphasizing that passenger safety and convenience remain top priorities for the railway administration.

Drone Surveillance Also Deployed

In addition to CCTV expansion, the RPF has started using drone technology to curb criminal activities such as stone-pelting and theft along railway tracks. A drone has been jointly allotted to Karnal and Panipat and is deployed in Karnal for one to two days every week for surveillance of vulnerable areas.

Positive Response from Passengers

Residents and regular passengers have welcomed the move. “Installation of additional cameras will give us a sense of security and safety at the railway station,” said Happy, a local resident. Enhanced surveillance is expected to deter crime and make travelers feel safer.
