A tragic hit-and-run incident claimed the life of a young food delivery worker in Chandigarh early Tuesday morning. The accident occurred near the Sector 34-35 light point around 2.30 am.
Victim Identified as Khusmeet Rawat
Police identified the victim as 26-year-old Khusmeet Rawat. He originally hailed from Hardoi in Uttar Pradesh. Rawat lived in a rented accommodation in Burail, Sector 45. He had been married for just one year. His wife currently resides in their native village.
A friend of the victim revealed that Rawat worked night shifts delivering food. He took these shifts to earn extra income for his family.
Details of the Fatal Accident
The accident happened when Khusmeet Rawat was traveling to Sector 35 for a delivery assignment. A speeding car rammed into his motorcycle with tremendous force. The driver immediately fled the scene without stopping to help.
The impact caused severe head injuries to Rawat. A passerby noticed the injured man and immediately alerted the police. A PCR team arrived quickly and rushed him to Government Medical College and Hospital in Sector 32.

Doctors at GMCH-32 examined Rawat upon arrival. They declared him dead on arrival due to the extensive injuries. The hospital authorities kept his body in the mortuary for a postmortem examination.
