A managing director of a private hospital in Ayanavaram, Chennai, was arrested on Monday on charges of assaulting a former employee over a wage dispute, which occurred on April 24 and left the victim with head injuries, police said.
Incident Details
According to police, Sathya, 32, of Thirumullaivoyil worked as a driver for Naveen, 41, the managing director of a private hospital on Konnur High Road. Sathya was employed from March 20 but resigned on April 3, citing workplace harassment. When he sought his salary for 13 days of work, he was asked to come on April 24. On that day, around noon, Naveen handed over Rs 4,000 and told him the remaining Rs 4,000 would be transferred later.
The Assault
On Monday, when Sathya reached the hospital around 9.45 pm, Naveen allegedly abused him, slapped him, and assaulted him with a surgical blade. The victim sustained head injuries and was later admitted to Government Kilpauk Medical College Hospital. The accused was booked by Ayanavaram police, and further investigation is underway.
