The accused, identified as Anandakrishnan, is the son of the house owner. He forcibly entered the woman's residence and harassed her while she was asleep. After the act, he fled the scene. The woman later filed a complaint with the MGR Nagar police, who registered a case and began an investigation.

Police examined CCTV footage from the locality, which showed the accused leaving his residence and returning after some time during the night. The footage helped confirm his involvement in the crime. Based on this evidence, the police arrested Anandakrishnan and remanded him in judicial custody.
