Indore: Chinese Manjha Kills Tile Contractor, Second Death in Days
Chinese Manjha Kills Man in Indore, Second Fatality

Indore witnessed another tragic death on Sunday due to the illegal and deadly 'Chinese manjha', despite a city-wide ban on its use. The incident marks the second fatality caused by the razor-sharp kite strings in recent days, raising serious concerns about enforcement and public safety.

Second Life Lost to Banned Kite String

The victim has been identified as Raghuvir Dhakad, a tile contractor by profession and a resident of Om Sai Vihar Colony in Bicholi Mardana. The fatal accident occurred in the evening on a road connecting Kanadia and Tilak Nagar. According to his family members, Dhakad had gone to visit a work site on his motorcycle and was returning home when the tragedy struck.

How the Tragedy Unfolded

While passing near Shakuntala Hospital, Dhakad's throat came into contact with a stray Chinese manjha. The sharp string, often coated with glass or metal, slit his throat, causing him to lose control of his motorcycle. Alert passers-by used his mobile phone to inform his family. He was rushed to the hospital immediately but, tragically, succumbed to his injuries during treatment.

A Family Devastated by Repeated Loss

The loss is particularly devastating for the Dhakad family, who were already coping with a past tragedy. Raghuvir Dhakad leaves behind a son named Sahil, who is a student. The family had lost another son to drowning just two years ago. This recent incident adds to their unimaginable grief.

This was not an isolated event. Just a few days prior, a 16-year-old boy lost his life in a similar incident on the Indore-Dewas bypass. Furthermore, reports indicate that six persons have suffered serious injuries to their necks, faces, and hands so far in this season alone due to Chinese manjha. These incidents starkly highlight the persistent threat posed by the banned material, questioning the effectiveness of the prohibition.
