CID Moves Court for Scientific Investigation in High-Profile Murder Case
The Karnataka Police's Crime Investigation Department (CID) has taken a significant step in the ongoing investigation into the murder of Bengaluru realtor V G Shivaprakash, popularly known as Biklu Shiva. On Tuesday, the investigative agency filed an application before a special court seeking permission to conduct scientific tests on two key accused in the case that has political ramifications.
The CID has specifically requested authorization to perform polygraph tests and brain mapping on businessman-turned-advocate A G Ajeeth Kumar and co-accused Anil R D, who works as an actor and producer. Both individuals were arrested on November 10 in connection with the July 15 murder that occurred in a public street near Halasuru Lake.
Political Connections and Criminal Allegations
The case has drawn considerable attention due to the involvement of prominent political figures. Byrathi Basavaraj, 63-year-old BJP MLA from K R Pura constituency, has been named among the 20 accused in the murder case. Also implicated is local gangster Jagadish P, alias Jaga, aged 45, who allegedly maintains associations with the BJP leader.
According to CID sources, the murder appears to have stemmed from a property dispute between two rival groups. The conflict dates back to February 2025 when a claimant identified as Ravi approached accused number 2, Kiran K, alleging that Biklu Shiva had illegally constructed a compound wall around four sites that rightfully belonged to him.
The investigation has revealed that the claimant also accused Biklu Shiva of verbally abusing Jaga, leading to a series of confrontations between Jaga's gang and the realtor over regional dominance. These escalating tensions ultimately culminated in the alleged murder plot.
International Dimensions and Key Arrests
The case has taken international turns with Jaga being apprehended in Jakarta through an Interpol Blue Notice before being transferred to Delhi in August. CID investigations have uncovered that Kumar, who has a criminal history and real estate business connections, provided crucial financial and logistical support to the main accused both before and after the murder.
Investigators allege that Kumar financed Jaga throughout the planning and execution stages of the murder and facilitated his escape to Dubai shortly after the crime was committed. Meanwhile, Anil R D, identified as accused number 4, is believed to have supplied the vehicle used in the execution of Biklu Shiva.
Following their arrest, Kumar secured release on bail by invoking his lawyer's privileges, while Anil was remanded to police custody for ten days. The two arrested individuals are reported to maintain close associations with MLA Basavaraj.
Legal Protections and Ongoing Challenges
The BJP MLA currently enjoys protection from arrest under a Karnataka High Court order dated August 12, which directed police not to take coercive action against him. However, CID has informed the High Court through filings that the MLA had prior contact with both the deceased and principal accused before and after the crime occurred.
In a significant legal move, the CID has invoked the stringent Karnataka Control of Organised Crime Act, 2000 in the murder case. This application has been challenged by the BJP MLA in the Karnataka High Court, adding another layer of complexity to the ongoing legal proceedings.
The special court where the CID filed its application for scientific tests specifically handles cases linked to elected representatives, underscoring the political sensitivity of this investigation. As the probe continues, authorities are focusing on unraveling the complete network behind the realtor's murder and establishing the precise roles of all involved parties.
