CJI Surya Kant Hails UP's New Court Complexes as National Benchmark
Chief Justice of India Justice Surya Kant made a strong statement on Saturday. He praised the Uttar Pradesh government for its commitment to judicial infrastructure. The CJI spoke during a foundation stone laying ceremony in Chandauli district.
Setting a National Example
Justice Surya Kant declared Uttar Pradesh would become a model for the entire nation. He laid foundation stones for six integrated court complexes. These facilities will serve Chandauli, Mahoba, Amethi, Shamli, Hathras, and Auraiya districts.
"Uttar Pradesh will set an example," the CJI stated firmly. "These court complexes will become a benchmark for India. Whichever state I visit, I will cite UP's example. I will urge other state governments and high courts to provide similar facilities."
'Temples of Justice' in a Historic Region
The Chief Justice used powerful imagery in his address. He noted the region's historical significance as home to many religious temples. "The chief minister has added a new chapter to that history," Justice Surya Kant emphasized. "He is establishing temples of justice here."
These integrated complexes will offer comprehensive facilities. They are designed to meet the needs of lawyers and citizens for the next fifty years. The state government has already released necessary funds. Construction work will begin shortly.
Constitutional Vision and Practical Needs
Justice Surya Kant connected the projects to constitutional principles. He recalled the framers' belief that district judiciary would ensure access to justice. "When people face deprivation of judicial rights," he explained, "they can fight for those rights in local courts."
The CJI made specific practical requests during his speech:
- Separate bar rooms for women lawyers in every district court
- A primary health center within each complex to assist elderly litigants
- Comprehensive facilities including advocate chambers, judicial residences, canteens, parking, and sports areas
CM Adityanath's Commitment to Judicial Empowerment
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath addressed the gathering with equal conviction. He stressed that empowering democracy requires empowering the judiciary. "We need infrastructure that is convenient and simple," the CM asserted. "Common people must access justice with ease."
Adityanath revealed the government's phased approach:
- Six districts receiving facilities in the first phase
- Four additional districts to be covered in coming months
- All formalities completed with design approval
- Construction to proceed immediately
"Inspired by the Chief Justice," Adityanath noted, "we are providing this integrated facility." He emphasized that justice must reach every citizen seamlessly.
Distinguished Gathering
The ceremony attracted prominent judicial figures. Supreme Court Justices Vikram Nath, Pankaj Mithal, Manoj Mishra, and Rajesh Bindal attended. Allahabad High Court Chief Justice Arun Bhanjali and Uttarakhand High Court Chief Justice Manoj Kumar Gupta were present. Senior Justice Mahesh Chandra Tripathi also joined the event.
The project represents a significant step in judicial infrastructure development. It aims to transform how citizens interact with the legal system in Uttar Pradesh. Both the judiciary and executive have demonstrated strong commitment to this vision.
