Tirupati: Former YSRCP municipal vice-chairman P Dasaratharami Reddy and his supporters were injured in clashes that erupted between two groups over a land dispute at Rayachoti in Annamayya district on Sunday. The incident has sparked political tensions in the region.
Attack Allegations
Rajampet YSRCP MP P V Midhun Reddy alleged that supporters of minister Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy were involved in the attack, in which Dasaratharami Reddy sustained severe injuries. According to Midhun Reddy, the dispute concerns land located near Dasaratharami Reddy's Kalyana Mandapam at Rayachoti. He claimed that while the land dispute litigation is pending before the High Court, followers of minister Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy trespassed onto the disputed site under the guise of a settlement and launched an indiscriminate attack on Dasaratharami Reddy and his followers. The Kalyana Mandapam was also ransacked during the incident.
Tension in Rayachoti
The clashes between the two groups, reportedly belonging to the TDP and the YSRCP, sparked tension in Rayachoti on Sunday. Local residents expressed fear and concern over the violent turn of events. The YSRCP Rajampet MP alleged that the local police remained mute spectators despite the brazen attack on Dasaratharami Reddy and his followers. In a strongly worded statement, Midhun Reddy warned, "TDP leaders should realise that their blatant misuse of power and police force will set a precedent for tomorrow. When the YSRCP returns to power, they will have to face appropriate consequences for their misdeeds."
Medical Treatment
Dasaratharami Reddy and two others who sustained serious injuries in the attack were shifted to a private hospital in Tirupati for treatment. Their condition is reported to be stable. The incident has raised questions about law and order in the district, with opposition parties demanding a thorough investigation and action against those responsible.
