Chandigarh Police have successfully foiled a murder plot orchestrated by gangsters operating from abroad, arresting a Class 12 student who was allegedly recruited to carry out the killing. The student, a resident of Mohali, was apprehended before he could execute the plan, which targeted a person in Punjab.
Details of the Plot
According to police officials, the gangsters, believed to be based in Canada and other countries, contacted the student through social media platforms. They offered him a substantial sum of money to eliminate a specific individual. The student, lured by the financial incentive, agreed to the task and began preparations.
Police Intervention
The police became aware of the plot through intelligence inputs and technical surveillance. They tracked the student's movements and intercepted him before he could commit the crime. A weapon and other incriminating materials were recovered from his possession.
Investigation and Charges
During interrogation, the student revealed that he was in touch with the gangsters via encrypted messaging apps. He had received instructions and partial payment for the murder. The police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Arms Act. Further investigations are underway to identify and apprehend the gangsters abroad.
This incident highlights the growing trend of gangsters using vulnerable youths for criminal activities. The police have urged parents and teachers to monitor children's online activities and report any suspicious behavior.
