CM Flying Squad Cracks Down on Overloaded Vehicles in Hisar
The Chief Minister's Flying Squad team in Hisar issued challans for ten vehicles and imposed a penalty of approximately Rs 5.50 lakh during a special enforcement drive targeting overloaded commercial vehicles. The operation was conducted on June 29, 2026, following complaints about vehicles carrying loads beyond permissible limits.
Joint Operation with Regional Transport Authority
The team, headed by CM Flying Hisar Range in-charge Sunaina, carried out the drive in coordination with officials from the Regional Transport Authority (RTA). Traffic Inspector Harvinder Singh and other police officials were also part of the enforcement team.
Reason for the Drive: Road Safety and Tax Evasion
Sunaina informed that the action was launched after receiving complaints that several commercial vehicles were operating with loads exceeding legal limits, which violates traffic rules and poses a threat to road safety. She added that overloading also amounts to tax evasion.
Checks Conducted and Violations Found
During the checking drive, officials verified registration certificates, driving licences, insurance papers, pollution under control (PUC) certificates, tax-related documents, and the width and weight of loads carried. The Flying Squad members found ten vehicles violating transport rules, including overloading, over-speeding, and operating without mandatory documents. Challans amounting to Rs 5.50 lakh were issued.
Zero-Tolerance Policy on Overloaded Vehicles
Sunaina stated that the state government has adopted a zero-tolerance policy towards overloaded vehicles, as they are a major cause of road accidents and often result in loss of life and property. She urged vehicle owners to ensure timely payment of taxes and keep valid insurance, registration certificates, pollution certificates, and driving licences while operating their vehicles. She also advised school and college bus operators to strictly adhere to prescribed safety norms.
Future Enforcement Plans
The CM Flying in-charge said similar surprise checking drives would continue across the region, and warned of legal action against those found violating transport rules or operating overloaded vehicles.
