Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Three days after a police constable and his family were booked in an attempt to murder case, the Pundaliknagar police have registered a counter-case against a Shiv Sena office-bearer and seven of his family members for rioting and unlawful assembly. The counter-case was based on a complaint filed by the accused constable, Nilesh Santanse.
Background of the Incident
Santanse and his family members were initially booked for attempt to murder following an alleged knife attack on Shiv Sena functionary Vikas Uttam Narode (40). The incident occurred late on Friday over a dispute related to parking of vehicles outside their homes. The altercation quickly escalated into a violent clash involving members of both families.
Details of the Counter-FIR
According to the police, the latest FIR was registered on Sunday based on Santanse's complaint. In his statement, the constable, who is currently undergoing three-day police custody, alleged that Narode and his relatives assembled unlawfully and assaulted him during the altercation. Based on Santanse's complaint, police have registered an offence against Narode and seven of his family members under sections 118(1), 189(2), 189(4), 191(2), 191(3), 190, 351(3), 352, and 115(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Police Investigation
Police Inspector Ashok Bhandare stated that cross-complaints from both sides indicate that the altercation escalated rapidly into a violent clash. Both parties have levelled serious allegations against each other. The police are investigating the sequence of events and the exact role of each accused.
