Delhi Judge Aman Sharma Dies by Suicide at Home

A 30-year-old judge allegedly died by suicide at his residence in south Delhi's Green Park on Saturday. Police have initiated inquest proceedings to probe the case. The deceased, Aman Sharma, was serving as secretary of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), North East District, at Karkardooma courts.

Police reported that Sharma's relative contacted authorities around 1:45 pm to inform that the judge had locked himself in the bathroom. Emergency responders rushed to the scene and broke open the bathroom windowpane. Sharma was found unresponsive and was moved to Safdarjung Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Police are currently interviewing family members and awaiting the postmortem report to determine the exact cause of death. No suicide note has been recovered so far.

Background of the Deceased

Aman Sharma completed his BA LLB from Symbiosis Law School, Pune, in 2018, and joined the Delhi Judicial Services on June 19, 2021. During his tenure, he handled various criminal and civil matters while serving as a judicial magistrate first class and civil judge. On October 18, he took charge as full-time secretary at DLSA, Karkardooma Courts.

Members of the DLSA declined to comment on the incident. However, V K Singh, president of the Shahdara Bar Association, described Sharma as soft-spoken and an introvert. Colleagues expressed shock at his sudden demise.

Investigation Ongoing

Authorities are investigating the circumstances leading to the incident. The inquest proceedings aim to uncover any potential factors, including work-related stress or personal issues. The postmortem report is expected to provide further clarity.
