Police in Gurgaon have made a crucial arrest in a devastating hit-and-run case that claimed the lives of three members of a single family. The driver, who allegedly fled the scene after the collision, was apprehended following a detailed investigation.
The Tragic Incident on Nuh-Hodal Road
The fatal road accident occurred on December 22 on the Nuh-Hodal Road near a Nayara petrol pump. According to police reports, a Bolero vehicle, driving at high speed, collided with a motorcycle. The impact was so severe that the three victims—a man, his mother, and his grandmother—died on the spot.
The driver of the Bolero, identified as Karmilahi, a resident of Neemli Bas Dhaulet village in Rajasthan's Bharatpur district, abandoned his vehicle at the scene and fled. This prompted the victim's family to file a formal complaint, based on which the Sadar police station registered a case and initiated a manhunt.
Police Investigation Leads to Arrest
The breakthrough in the case came through persistent investigative work. On Tuesday, police teams from the Sadar station succeeded in arresting the accused. A district police spokesperson outlined the steps taken to trace the fugitive driver.
Investigators analysed CCTV footage from the surrounding area to track the vehicle's movement. They also examined the route taken by the Bolero and gathered critical technical inputs. This multi-pronged approach helped police identify and finally locate Karmilahi.
"The driver went into hiding after the accident. Continuous efforts by the police team and analysis of CCTV footage led to his arrest," the spokesperson confirmed.
Ongoing Probe and Legal Action
Following the arrest, the accused is currently under police questioning. Officials are working to determine the exact sequence of events, including the speed of the Bolero and the visibility conditions at the time of the tragic crash.
Police have stated that a further investigation is underway. All findings from the interrogation and evidence collection will be compiled, and appropriate legal action will be initiated based on the final report.
