Drunk Driver Crashes into Bengaluru Restaurant Wall

A potentially fatal accident was narrowly averted in Bengaluru's bustling Indiranagar area late Thursday night. A speeding car, driven by an intoxicated software engineer, lost control and crashed into the outer wall of a popular Barbeque Nation restaurant on 100 Feet Road.

High-Speed Crash on Busy Road

The incident occurred around 11 pm on Thursday when the vehicle, a Skoda, failed to take a left turn. Instead, the car mounted the road divider and slammed directly into the restaurant's boundary wall. Police confirmed that the driver, identified as Derrick Tony, was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash and has been detained.

CCTV Footage Captures Terrifying Moments

CCTV footage from the vicinity shows the car travelling at a dangerously high speed moments before the impact. A chilling 10-second video clip captures the vehicle jumping over the divider, narrowly missing several pedestrians, before ramming into the building's structure. Miraculously, no injuries were reported among pedestrians or the driver himself.

Legal Action Initiated Against Driver

According to officers, legal action is being initiated against the detained driver. Preliminary investigations reveal that Derrick Tony, the software engineer behind the wheel, was returning from a party when the crash occurred. The police have emphasized the grave risks of drunk driving, especially on crowded city roads like 100 Feet Road in Indiranagar.

The event has once again raised concerns about road safety and reckless driving in the city. The quick response from authorities and the sheer luck that no one was on the footpath at the exact moment of impact prevented what could have been a major tragedy.
