A young pedestrian lost his life in a tragic road accident on Ahmedabad's busy CG Road late Sunday night. The fatal incident, involving an allegedly intoxicated motorcyclist, has sent shockwaves through the Navrangpura area.
Details of the Tragic Night
The victim, identified as Prakash Dindor (25), was out for a walk with his friend and roommate, Mahendra Chauhan (25). Both men worked as cooks and lived at the Second Avenue Society on CG Road. The tragedy unfolded around 11:15 PM on Sunday near Mardia Plaza at Bodyline Crossroads.
While returning from their walk, the two friends were crossing the road. Chauhan managed to cross safely, but Dindor, who was walking behind him, was not as fortunate. A speeding motorcycle coming from the Bodyline side struck him with tremendous force.
The Fatal Impact and Aftermath
According to the First Information Report (FIR) filed by Chauhan with the B-Division traffic police, the motorcyclist was riding in a rash and negligent manner at high speed. The impact was so severe that it threw both Dindor and the rider onto the road.
Prakash Dindor sustained critical head injuries and fell unconscious on the spot. The motorcycle bore a Mumbai registration plate. The rider was identified as Abu Sufiyan (20), a third-year dental student originally from Mira Road in Mumbai, who was staying at a paying guest accommodation near Gota Crossroads in Ahmedabad.
Emergency Response and Arrest
Alert bystanders immediately rushed to help and called for emergency services. While Sufiyan suffered minor head injuries and remained conscious, Dindor's condition was grave. A 108 ambulance arrived promptly, but the doctors declared Dindor dead at the scene.
Following the incident, the police took swift action. The accused motorcyclist, Abu Sufiyan, was arrested on Monday. Authorities have confirmed that a thorough investigation into the case is currently underway to ascertain all facts, including the suspicion of the rider being under the influence of alcohol.
