DSC jawan dies by suicide at Indian Navy depot in Vizag

A Defence Security Corps (DSC) jawan deployed at the Indian Navy's weapon equipment depot in Visakhapatnam died by suicide on Saturday, shooting himself with his service rifle. The deceased was identified as Parag Suresh Rao (42), a native of Pune, Maharashtra.

Incident Details

Rao had joined the DSC after retiring from the Indian Army and was assigned to the specialized military logistics and storage facility in the Ashoka Park locality of Vizag, primarily operated by the Indian Navy. On Saturday morning, he was found lifeless in a pool of blood with a bullet injury at his workplace. Police responded to the scene and transported the body to King George Hospital (KGH) for autopsy.

Suicide Note Found

Authorities discovered a suicide note near the body. The note stated, "No one is responsible for my extreme step. I have two children, and I am appealing to authorities to take steps to provide all benefits to my family." Rao did not specify any reasons for his action, prompting police to investigate from multiple angles, including potential domestic issues.
